hartcon is a convention for artists of all kinds to show off and sell art, talk about art, share tips and techniques and have fun! All art is welcomed and encouraged; painting, digital art, sculpture, anything that’s art! Anything from classical to abstract, it’s not about talent, it’s about passion. AI art and tracing not permitted.
The foundation of hartcon came from a desire to combat artistic elitism and exclusion, as well as to keep the true soul of art alive and kicking. For a long time, artistic snobs have dramatically turned their nose up at nontraditional and modern art, and the founders of hartcon find it quite destructive to the true spirit of art. Many art elitists think that nontraditional mediums like abstract and digital art are “fake” art or “not real art”, because they assume that these mediums do not take effort. It is our hopes that by creating an open, inclusive artistic environment, where people can show and explain their medium and the effort and passion they put in to it, elitists may open their minds to the validity of other forms of art. Additionally, in recent times, the art world has been invaded by what truly is fake art - plagiarists and AI “artists”. By excluding these, we hope to create a feeling of security for our fellow artists, to assure them their effort, time, and love for their craft will not be undermined by thieves and lines of code imitating art.
